Andrew (Andy) J. Urban Jr. was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and has been a resident of Nevada since 1981. After graduating from Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington, he moved to Las Vegas to clerk for the Hon. J. Charles Thompson then the chief judge of the Eighth Judicial District Court. Upon passing the Nevada Bar exam in 1982, Andy accepted an attorney position with a prominent private law firm. In 1983 he left the private sector to become a public lawyer. He was hired by the Henderson City Attorney to be the second attorney in the City Attorney’s office. Henderson experienced explosive growth and for almost two decades was the fastest growing city in the nation. The City Attorney’s office grew from two attorneys to almost two dozen attorneys in the almost 26 years Andy worked for the City. During his tenure with the City, Andy represented almost every department at one time or another, and for several legislative sessions in the late eighties and early nineties he was the City’s lobbyist. He remained the City’s chief legal legislative analyst and second in command at the City Attorney’s Office until his retirement from public service in July of 2009.
Andy has extensive experience in contract matters, local government purchasing issues, bid protests, eminent domain matters, public records and Nevada open meeting law issues. Through his small private practice that he maintained for the last 26 years, he also has experience in wills, trusts and probate matters. He sees his in depth experience with contract matters as a natural fit for drafting domestic partnership agreements.
The idea of the Nevada Virtual Law Office (NVLO) was born from Andy’s love of technology and desire to make legal services reasonable for the average person. He wants to make sure people have good quality and easily accessible legal counsel at rates they can afford.
